If your employee designs or sells fluid power systems, we recommend the Specialist classification. A Specialist certification consists of a 3-hour, multiple choice, written (pen and paper or online proctored) test.
Hydraulic Specialist (HS) Certification
defines professional standards for those responsible for analyzing, troubleshooting systems, designing systems, and selecting components. In-depth knowledge in the following areas is necessary to be successful in obtaining an HS Certification.

What content will my employee be tested on?
-
Understand the Function of Hydraulic Components in Circuits
-
Selecting Components for Hydraulic Systems
-
Analyze and Troubleshoot Hydraulic Systems
-

Hydraulic Specialist (HS) Certification
applies fluid power theory and related knowledge to analyze power transmission and motion control requirements and designs appropriate industrial or mobile hydraulic systems to perform required tasks. Sizes and selects appropriate components, designs, or modifies complete circuit, prepares Bills of Materials and specifies fluids, prime movers, and appropriate fluid conductors. An HS also designs appropriate instrumentation and control systems (hydraulic and electronic) for industrial and mobile machinery. The HS may become involved in sales activities, product warranty claims, and evaluation of prototype machinery. An HS may also become involved in instructional activities for Fluid Power Technicians and Fluid Power Mechanics concerning principles of hydraulics.
Pneumatic Specialist Certification

Electropneumatic Control Systems
Pneumatic Specialist (PS) Certification
applies fluid power theory and related knowledge to analyze pneumatic and vacuum system requirements for a particular application and designs appropriate pneumatic and/or vacuum systems to perform required tasks. Understands air logic circuitry and appropriate interlocks used within an application. Sizes and selects appropriate components, designs or modifies complete circuit, prepares Bills of Materials, and specifies appropriate fluid conductors. A PS also designs appropriate instrumentation and control systems (pneumatic and electro-pneumatic) for the application. The PS may become involved in sales activities, product warranty claims, and evaluation of prototype applications. A PS may also become involved in instructional activities for Pneumatic Technicians and Mechanics.
